Welcome!
I started Mindful Anytime out of a passion for empowering people of all ages to meet themselves with love and compassion, exactly where they are in life. Through teaching mindfulness meditation and yoga, I help others discover the tools that support their well-being in ways that work best for them. My hope is that these practices ripple outward - adding positivity, kindness, and compassion to our communities and the world.
At Mindful Anytime, you’ll find:
Mindfulness, self-compassion, and wellness practices shared in a way that’s accessible for all ages.
Yoga classes for every level, rooted in the hatha tradition and influenced by Iyengar and vinyasa styles - always with a focus on sustainable, supportive and functional movement.
Resources and encouragement to help you continue growing your mindfulness, yoga, and wellness practice beyond class.

Bio: I am a an accredited yoga and mindfulness teacher who works with adults and emerging adults in studios, schools, workplaces, and retreats. I teach both in person and online, sharing practices that support well-being with local, national, and international communities.
I began practicing mindfulness, yoga, and meditation during my college years with teachers from Yogaville (Satchidananda Ashram) and a few years later, in 1998, attended my first mindfulness retreat with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli, founders of the Mind Body Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. The calm, clarity, and compassion these practices brought into my own life inspired me to do trainings and earn the certifications needed to teach others.
Today, I share yoga and mindfulness with adults, students, and communities across the Triangle and beyond—through classes, workshops, and retreats offered in person and online. I am a certified MIEA Mindfulness Teacher (Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults), a certified Workplace Mindfulness Facilitator (Mindful Leader), and a 500-hour certified Yoga Teacher (Yoga Works & Heart+Bones Yoga).
Additionally, I have completed the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for Coaches course with Dr. Jeff Brantley (Duke’s Health & Well-Being Program at the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine), as well as trainings with other groups such as the Mind Body Awareness Project, Mindful Schools, and Little Gurus. I worked for several years as a volunteer Meditate Together Facilitator and Team Lead with Mindful Leader’s international ‘Meditate Together’ program and served on Mindful Leader’s Advisory Council. I have attended numerous yoga and mindfulness retreats and workshops and currently am working on my Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness training with David Treleaven.
My teaching blends mindfulness, self-compassion, and yoga practices in ways that are accessible, sustainable, and supportive for people of all ages. At the heart of my work is a simple belief: when we learn to care for and love ourselves, we not only feel better in our bodies and our minds, but also strengthen our ability to connect with one another and help build kinder, more resilient communities.
A FEW EXAMPLES OF FEEDBACK I HAVE RECEIVED FROM STUDENTS & WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS:
• This was the best organized and best presented OLLI (OLLI at Duke) course that I have taken. The instructor, Betsi Dessauer, was very responsive both in and outside of class. It was a true joy.
• Excellent presenter!
• Betsi is a warm and welcoming instructor. She moved at a perfect pace-slow enough to allow us to understand the concepts while making us feel like the time in class flew by. I also enjoyed reading the book that accompanied the course and plan on referring back to it as a reference. I have tried meditating during my intermittent journeys into the practice of yoga, but always got a bit "antsy." Betsi's calm and gentle demeanor led me to experience meditation as it should be, and I ultimately got to the point where I could meditate and actually relax. I would highly recommend this class to anyone!
• Please encourage the instructor, Betsi Dessauer, to teach a follow-up class. She’s a very good teacher.
